Introducing the carbon in homes driving licence

This on-line training course, developed by the University of Salford and Property Tectonics, provides a foundation level introduction to the national quest to reduce the carbon footprint of our homes. The course comprises five complementary modules which cover fundamental technological and behavioural concepts and principles. The course covers:

  • domestic energy supply and demand
  • building fabric and thermal performance
  • domestic energy systems
  • measuring and monitoring energy use and carbon output
  • people and buildings

The Driving Licence is designed to appeal to a wide audience across all housing sectors and assumes no prior knowledge of energy conservation and building technology. There is no minimum entry qualification or competency level.
